Your role in our journey
As an Education Welfare Officer, you will develop positive working relationships with schools and academies to identify pupils at risk of becoming severely and persistently absent.
You will also work alongside schools to improve attendance, inclusion and access to education. To ensure all pupils engage in education to achieve the best possible outcomes.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades A-C, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field, with a willingness to work towards an NVQ level 4. You will also have experience of working in home school liaison to negotiate positive outcomes for pupils; you’ll bring to the role, knowledge, experience and skills required to complete assessments in line with Barnsley’s assessment and threshold criteria. Your good communication skills and proven ability to keep up to date records will support you in providing and presenting evidence-based reports. You will be flexible and resilient in your approach and can work under pressure.

So we’ve created a development process that lets you grow in the way that suits you - whether that’s training to be a leader or learning flexibly online.
