Introduction
Join Lewisham’s award winning Integrated Adolescent Service as an Education, Training & Employment (ETE) Worker, where you’ll play a vital role in improving the life chances of children and young people involved in the Youth Justice System. In this rewarding role, you will help young people access and sustain meaningful education, training, and employment pathways, promoting positive engagement, reducing the likelihood of offending, and supporting reintegration into the community. Working at the intersection of youth justice, education, and multi‑agency partnership, you will be part of a forward‑thinking service committed to inclusion, anti‑racist practice, and improving outcomes for Lewisham’s diverse young people.
What’s the role?
The ETE Worker acts as a critical link between Education, the Youth Justice Service, and the wider Integrated Adolescent Service, ensuring young people receive the support they need to progress in learning and employment. You will complete specialist ETE assessments, develop tailored action plans, and support young people to overcome barriers to engagement whether practical, educational, social, or emotional. The role includes managing a caseload, providing 1:1 support, attending multi‑agency education panels, and advocating for appropriate provision. You will work closely with schools, colleges, training providers, employers, SEND services, SALT colleagues, the Virtual School, and a range of statutory and voluntary partners to ensure each young person receives high‑quality, coordinated support. Safeguarding, anti‑racist practice, and inclusive approaches are central to everything you do.
What’s in it for you?
Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:
- Generous holiday allowance
- Local Government Pension scheme
- Flexible working and family friendly policies
- Season ticket and bicycle loans
- A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
- Supportive staff networks
What we’re looking for
We are seeking a motivated, resilient practitioner who is passionate about helping children & young people re‑engage with education, training, and employment. You will bring strong knowledge of youth justice, education legislation, safeguarding frameworks, SEND, and the barriers faced by young people with complex needs. You’ll be an excellent communicator who can adapt to diverse learners, work creatively with young people, and build effective relationships across multi‑agency systems. You will have experience providing practical employability support such as CV building, interview preparation, and job application guidance and experience managing a caseload within a structured, statutory, or education‑focused setting. A commitment to anti‑racist practice, advocacy, and equitable access to education is essential.
