Job Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Education Safeguarding Officer to join our Achievement and Enrichment Service. This post is fixed term for 12 months, 0.8FTE, working all year. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening safeguarding practice across schools and educational settings in Telford & Wrekin.

As a trusted specialist, you will provide expert guidance, challenge, and support to headteachers, senior leaders and safeguarding professionals—ensuring that children and young people remain safe, supported, and able to thrive.

We are looking for a confident, knowledgeable professional who brings:

  • Significant safeguarding experience within schools, including as a DSL
  • Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of child protection legislation, policy, and practice
  • Experience in advising, influencing, and working with senior leaders
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to partnership working and school improvement
