Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career while gaining a recognised qualification?

We are looking for a motivated Economic Growth Apprentice to join our Economic Growth and Visitor Economy team at Newark and Sherwood District Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience, develop practical skills and work towards a Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship.

In this varied role, you’ll support projects and initiatives that help promote Newark and Sherwood, support local businesses and strengthen the visitor economy. From helping with digital marketing and social media content, to assisting with events, research, stakeholder enquiries and project coordination, this is a brilliant chance to build a broad range of experience in a supportive team environment.

You’ll support the team with a wide range of tasks, including:

  • Supporting digital marketing and promotional activity for tourism and visitor economy projects
  • Helping to create and edit content for websites, social media, blogs and online event listings
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of projects, events and business support activity
  • Supporting the development of newsletters and communications

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Keen to learn and develop through an apprenticeship
  • Interested in economic growth, tourism, business support or place promotion
  • Organised and able to manage priorities
  • Interested in using social media and digital channels to engage audiences

You will need:

  • Maths and English at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent), or be willing and able to work towards Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship
  • Flexibility to attend meetings, events and activities at different locations when required
  • The ability to occasionally work outside normal office hours for events or promotions

We’re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers. We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of our employees are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events. From roadshows to an annual award ceremony, from reviewing working arrangements to monthly craft sessions, it is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.

We offer:

  • Enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme.
  • Flexi scheme.
  • Hybrid working.
  • A generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service.
  • Family-friendly benefits.
  • One days’ paid volunteering leave per year.
  • Lifestyle benefits platform.
  • Funded health cash plan.
  • Free car parking to 31 March 2028
  • £10 a month gym membership at one of our gyms in the district.

You will be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan.
