Job Description

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join its Early Help Service as an Early Support Co-ordinator. This vital service adopts a robust, whole-family approach, providing essential support to babies, children, and young people from pre-birth up to the age of 25.

We are excited to offer an experienced Early Help professional the opportunity to join Harrow’s Early Help Service at a key point in its ongoing development. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the continued shaping of Early Help delivery in Harrow, supporting effective practice and helping to build on the established offer through consistent, high‑quality operational work.

The successful candidate will be based across Harrow’s Family Hubs and wider network and will play an important role in the day‑to‑day operation of services. They will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to support coordinated responses for families, contribute to service delivery, and help ensure interventions are timely, joined‑up and responsive to local need.


About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of the developmental, educational, care and health needs of very young children and young people (prenatal – 12 years and/or 12 – 19/25 years).
  • Sound working knowledge of the National and local Children’s Centre and Young People agendas, along with the skills to implement and support these within and through a centre.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation related to children and families, Safeguarding Children, Children Act, National Standards, Ofsted.
  • Proven experience of offering management cover and supervising staff and services within a complex multi-disciplinary environment in multiple locations.
  • Experience of successful multi-agency planning of projects that benefit young children, young people and their families.
  • Ability to engage creatively with diverse communities in order to meet their needs.
  • Ability to work to timescales, prioritising and influencing whilst working responsively with staff and others.
  • Proficient use of MS Office Tools and a willingness and aptitude to learn other IT systems and databases to a proficient user level.
  • Holder of a relevant early years care and education or health qualification and/or Youth Work qualification.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and Saturdays as necessary.
  • Ability on occasions to work unsocial hours, e.g. after 8.00 p.m., no later than 10.30 pm.
