Salary: £28,605 - £31,029 per annum (pro rata for part time) (Pay award pending)

Working Hours: Zero hours – work offered around candidates availability

Contract Type: Permanent Zero Hours contract

We are looking for two detail driven people to join our registration service as deputy registrars, who can be flexible (location wise), able to work at short notice to cover holidays and sickness.

Where no two days are the same. Every day you'll engage in life's significant moments from registering a birth to supporting families through registering a death. Your role will involve conducting marriages and civil partnerships and be a vital part of one of the biggest days of a couples lives.

About the Role

To provide a covering role for Registrars of Births and Deaths / Deputy Superintendent Registrars as and when required at any of our offices located in the County of Leicestershire. This is a Zero Hours contract where having excellent availability is essential.

To register births, stillbirths and deaths occurring in the district.

To attest notices of marriage and civil partnerships and issue authorities and schedules to allow the ceremony to take place on time.

To attend and register or perform marriages and civil partnerships to all eligible couples, in accordance with legislation at the Register Office, Approved Premises and Registered Buildings.

Ensuring that all registration records and security stock are securely stored at the end of the day.

General office administration tasks

A basic DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Be able to Record and pass on confidential information neatly and accurately, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal, sensitively and calmly with members of the public and take control in a situation where customers may become challenging and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.
  • Demonstrate and give examples of excellent communication and interpersonal skills and working well in a team.
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise own workload, and to carry out duties without supervision in a lone working situation.
  • The nature of the work requires the post holder to attend at any location within the County of Leicestershire. In most cases, the use of public transport will not be appropriate, therefore a full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle will be required.
  • Good working knowledge of a range of IT systems including Microsoft Office, email and the internet.
  • Articulate and confident in a variety of situations including public speaking in a calm, authoritative manner and with a clear speaking voice.
