About the role
As Deputy Business Rates Officer, you’ll help deliver a responsive and accurate Business Rates service within Corporate Finance. You’ll support the day-to-day management of NNDR accounts, checking liabilities, processing rateable value changes (including splits/mergers), maintaining the property database, and monitoring payments and arrears so collection targets are met.
You’ll work closely with the Business Rates Officer, the Valuation Office Agency and other council teams to resolve complex cases, prepare accurate reports, and, when required, support court proceedings. The role suits someone with strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and a practical grasp of local taxation who enjoys balancing analysis with customer contact.
Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station.
We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.
