Are you interested in playing a key role in supporting the decision-making process? If you have a genuine interest in democracy and governance, are committed to driving change and improving services, this is the role for you.

This is an exciting and varied role that offers the opportunity to support the Council’s Democratic and decision-making processes. You will ensure residents of the Borough have access to local democracy whilst upholding the principals of good governance.

The successful candidate will become a key member of the Governance Services Team and will provide a comprehensive range of services, including support to various council meetings throughout the municipal year.

You will play a full role in the democratic life of the council: being responsible for the preparation of committee summonses, agendas, provision of advice during meetings, report preparation, ensuring an accurate and timely record of meetings is made and publishing Executive Member Decision Notices. You will need to be flexible in your approach and available to attend regular evening meetings.

We are looking for a candidate with good organisational and communication skills both written and verbal and well-developed inter-personal skills, as the post holder will be in regular contact with a wide range of officers and Councillors in a complex environment. The successful applicant will have a good understanding of how local government operates. Working as part of a small team, you will be a good team player who welcomes and responds positively to change.

The ability to converse at ease with councillors and members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.

This post is hybrid with the expectation of attending the office at least twice a week, plus attending evening meetings when required.

    This post is politically restricted.

You will have access to the local government benefits such as generous annual leave, national pay award agreements, and the local pension partnership.
