The Education Data Hub is looking to recruit a Data Protection Consultant to support our Data Protection Service for Schools service. You will provide specialist support with breach handling, incident investigations and statutory reporting so schools and multi‑academy trusts (MATs) across the country receive timely, accurate and professional guidance.

In this role, you will manage and triage breach incidents, look into what has happened, assess whether incidents meet the ICO reportable threshold, and prepare information for statutory submissions. You will monitor daily notifications and work closely with schools, service providers and colleagues across the team, supporting them through situations that can often be sensitive or complex. You will also help identify trends and risks from incident data and follow up with schools to prevent recurrence. Alongside this, you will support the data protection helpline, offering practical advice, support and guidance on data protection and information‑governance matters under UK GDPR and Data Protection legislation.

We are looking for someone with a solid understanding of UK GDPR, breach management and data protection risk. You should feel confident handling complex or higher‑risk cases, able to use sound judgement, and comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong communication, good organisation and a calm, solution‑focused approach are key. Experience in the education sector or with incident handling would be helpful, and you will be joining a supportive team that has been recognised nationally.

The Education Data Hub is an award‑winning, customer‑focused traded service that brings together Data Protection, Cyber Security, Online Safety, IT for Schools and Data Management services for all educational settings. The team is committed to making a meaningful difference, and this role offers the chance to be part of that.
