Damp & Mould Manager

Lead Croydon’s fight against damp and mould

Croydon is one of London’s most diverse and dynamic boroughs, and we are on a journey of housing transformation. Following our self-referral to the Regulator for Social Housing in 2021, we have taken major steps to improve services, and in April 2025, the regulatory notice was formally lifted.

We are now investing in dedicated specialist teams to deliver safe, healthy homes for every resident. As Damp and Mould Manager, you will lead a team focused entirely on tackling damp and mould, driving improvements in service delivery, and ensuring compliance with Awaab’s Law and other emerging requirements. Your expertise will help us build trust, resolve complex cases, and improve living conditions across Croydon.

About the role:

  • Leading a dedicated team of surveyors, support officers, and resident liaison officers to investigate and manage damp and mould cases and assist in identifying issues requiring a management input to ensure that effective solutions are developed and implemented.
  • Managing and resolving complex damp and mould cases, from inspection to full remediation.
  • Provide specialist advice to tenants on the causes of damp and mould and how it can be prevented or eradicated.
  • Overseeing contractors and ensuring all works are delivered on time, to budget, and to the highest standard.
  • Analysing data and trends to prevent future issues and improve the service.
  • Providing expert technical advice to residents, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Supporting compliance with health and safety legislation and the building safety agenda.
  • Playing a key role in customer engagement, ensuring residents are kept informed and supported.

About you:
We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working within responsive repairs for a social housing provider.
  • Strong knowledge of damp and mould management, health and safety, and building compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • A track record of managing contractors and driving performance improvement.
  • An HNC in construction or building (or equivalent experience).
  • A proactive, resident-focused approach and excellent communication skills.
