We are looking to recruit a full-time Cycling Programme Lead to join our growing Public Health team.

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us. The Post

This is a new post and the postholder will be responsible for the development and implementation of key strategies for the team which promote health and wellbeing through cycling and aim to reduce health inequalities.

Currently, the focus will be on an audit of all current cycling and active travel projects across the council, scoping and assessing the feasibility of implementing a cycle loan scheme, bringing partners together, facilitating collaboration and setting up a formal partnership to establish priorities based on local need and opportunities.

The aim is to have cycling and active travel on everyone’s agenda.

    The Person

We are looking for a talented and resilient individual, motivated to address inequalities in health and wellbeing and with relevant experience to help deliver on complex agendas such as that of the Cycling and Active Travel agenda.

You should be passionate about reducing health and social inequalities and improving access to physical activity opportunities, particularly cycling and active travel.

You must have excellent communication skills, strong leadership and management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders/varying levels of seniority.

You will be highly organised and be comfortable working within a fast paced and reactive environment, where the focus is on the delivery and management of multiple programmes/projects and novel initiatives to high standards within tight timescales.

The post holder must be able to work independently without the need for substantial supervision and will be responsible for creating and sustaining good working relationships in support of developing and delivery of key Public Health outcomes within the council, NHS, Community and voluntary sector and other relevant partners and commissioned service providers.

You should also be proficient in IT packages such as Power Point, Word and Excel.

We are currently working as a hybrid model, with at least 3 days per week in the office or at meetings in the borough.
