Why work for us?

The Council is a fabulous place to work… We offer a competitive salary, an excellent pension scheme, flexible hours, hybrid working, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, 1 days’ paid volunteering leave, free staff car parking* and £10 gym membership at one of our four gyms in the district. All of this in a fabulous modern office environment centrally located in Newark.

Its more than all the great benefits above though; as an organisation we are welcoming, caring and invest in our employees. If you want to work for a professional and dedicated organisation who are all about providing excellent services to all of our residents and customers then come join our Customer Service Team.

What does the job involve?

We are looking for a focused individual who is interested in being part of our busy Customer Services Team. You will need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to use your own initiative, the desire and motivation to make a difference to our customers and the stamina to work in an ever-changing and constantly busy environment.

You will work at Castle House, Newark, or at one of our outreach centres, dealing with a wide range of customer enquiries. This includes face to face enquiries and answering calls in our contact centre which includes webchat and social media. You need to have a flexible approach with the ability to prioritise your work and react to a changing workload. Types of enquires we deal with are very varied - one minute you may be dealing with a waste enquiry then the next minute providing advice relating to planning or homelessness.

All about you

Excellent communication, keyboard and numeracy skills are required. In addition, experience of working in an appropriate customer orientated environment is essential as well as working on a variety of ICT systems to record, monitor and extract customer service information.

You will have the ability to meet targets, experience of working with on-line computer systems and will be educated to GCSE Grade C, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics. You must also have the ability to travel to the outreach stations within the district.

You will be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan.

You will have good attention to detail and a professional approach.

What is crucial is that you have a positive attitude and can embrace change, that you put the customer at the heart of what you do. We need employees that are helpful, friendly and great at communicating.

If this sounds like you and you want to join our friendly team please contact Clare Ashley 01636 655891 or Tracey Streeter on 01636 655208.

As an employer we will promote an inclusive working environment to maintain and develop a forward thinking and diverse workforce.

Veterans/family of forces/ex-forces, those in care/care leavers, and candidates who declare disabilities (as defined by the Equality Act 2010) will be guaranteed interviews provided they have demonstrated that they meet the essential criteria of the post as detailed in the Person Specifications on their application forms.
