    Curriculum & Quality Coordinator

Empowering Barnsley residents through guidance, opportunity, and support

Are you passionate about helping people unlock their potential through learning and employment? We’re looking for a dedicated Curriculum & Quality Coordinator to join our Adult Skills & Community Learning team and support Barnsley residents on their journey to personal and professional success.

As part of our inclusive and resident-focused service, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the quality of our service in line with our Ofsted Outstanding judgement. You will lead a team of tutors across curriculum teams, leading on the quality of teaching and learning and ensuring the curriculum offer meets the needs of our learner cohort.

Shape a better future with us

We’d like you to be part of our success and help us take change further. Join us on our journey to a brighter future. By working together, with each other and with our communities, we can take pride in improving lives. Let’s make a better Barnsley for everyone.

    Your role in our journey

As part of our Ofsted Outstanding service, you will play a pivotal role in supporting learners on their learning journey towards work and independence, helping them to overcome the barriers that prevent them from engaging in learning, progression into further learning and employment. You will champion an inclusive, learner‑centred curriculum that underpins everything we do, ensuring provision remains relevant, responsive and clearly focused on positive progression outcomes. This includes supporting learning that builds confidence, resilience and wellbeing alongside employability and life skills.

Using your skills and experience, you will develop, strengthen and enhance the curriculum offer, ensuring provision grows and adapts to meet the emerging needs of our learner cohort. You will align curriculum development with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) 10‑year plan and local labour market priorities, while maintaining a strong focus on progression routes into further learning, employment and independent living.

Working across a broad and diverse curriculum, you will support teams to review, update and plan provision so that it remains responsive, high quality and impactful. In your role as Quality and Curriculum Coordinator, you will be a key member of the senior management team, bringing leadership, influence and strategic oversight to the service’s ongoing improvement journey.

You will provide direct leadership and management to teaching teams across the service, taking a whole‑service approach to quality, consistency and impact. Your broad curriculum expertise will enable you to work strategically across provision, ensuring coherence and alignment rather than focusing on a single subject area.

Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment will be at the heart of your role. You will embed a consistent, service‑wide approach to quality, using observations and other quality assurance processes to drive continuous improvement, enhance curriculum design and strengthen tutor practice. Through your leadership, teaching and learning will consistently support learners to progress in, into and towards employment, or to develop the skills, confidence and wellbeing needed to flourish in today’s challenging society.

    What we’re looking for

You will have a minimum L6 qualification, a professional relevant Teaching Qualification.

You will also bring to the role a commitment to work flexibly, and an appetite for engaging in continuous training and professional development in this rewarding field of work.

    We’re seeking someone who:

    • Has substantial experience in managing teams delivering Adult Education
    • Can successfully manage curriculum development including outside their area of expertise
    • Experience of implementing Quality Assurance processes
    • Understands the local labour market and support networks.
    • Can build strong relationships with residents and stakeholders alike.
    • Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
    • Is proactive, empathetic, and passionate about lifelong learning.

    Why join us?

This role is part of our wider commitment to the Barnsley 2030 Strategy, and the Inclusive Economic Growth Strategy, helping to create a borough where everyone can thrive. You’ll be part of a supportive team that values innovation, collaboration, and the power of education to transform lives.
