An excellent opportunity has arisen for a court officer to provide legal support within Rent Recovery for council and temporary accommodation.
You will report to the Principal Lawyer - Litigation supporting the Legal Department and the Rent Service.
You will represent the Council presenting evidence in Court Hearings of arrears and action taken to recover these arrears, usually without legal representation.
Responsibilities -
- To support the enforcement of court protocol across the Rent Service function.
- To obtain money judgements on relevant cases.
- To ensure high standards of record keeping for all court activity.
- To demonstrate high standards of professionalism to ensure that the Council is well represented at all times.
To be successful in this role you will need to:
- Have experience of attending and presenting cases at Court as required.
- A law degree would be desirable.
- Have a knowledge of tenant service charges and associated financial legislation.
- Have specialist knowledge of court protocol and court conventions.
- Have an awareness of Local Government operating processes and decision-making processes.
- Have a knowledge of housing benefits, regulations and recent housing issues and government initiatives.
- Have experience of working in a legal office environment.
- Have experience of handling Local Authority legal matters.
- Being an exceptional communicator.
- Successful candidate will need to travel to court as required.

Salary range
- £43,680 - £55,323 per year
