Country Parks Officer

Permanent

£29,540 - £33,699 per annum, pro rata

Part time, 22 hours per week, weekend, bank holiday working and seasonally extended hours, as required.

Do you have a passion for nature, conservation and community engagement? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Country Parks Officer to play an integral role in managing and protecting some of Hastings’ most valuable and biodiverse green spaces.

About Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve

Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve is the largest area of publicly owned and managed land in the Borough. It is a designated Local Nature Reserve which includes a nationally designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), internationally designated Special Area of Conservation (SAC), farmland, ancient woodland, and a Country Park.

About the role

As our Country Parks Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high quality site management and maintenance across Hastings Country Nature Reserve and other nature reserves throughout the borough. You will apply specialist knowledge and practical skills to implement and monitor the delivery of countryside stewardship grants at the reserve, and act as the principle on-site point of contact and liaison for members of the public and community groups, advocating and explaining site management priorities.

Working with partners, you will develop and co-ordinate a programme of volunteer and community engagement events and activities.

This role requires high levels of knowledge and expertise on management of nature reserves and habitats. You will need relevant qualifications in countryside management, or experience related to countryside management, ecology and wildlife activities and practical experience of nature reserve management, countryside stewardship and access management.
