Do you want to play a hands-on role in maintaining and improving parks and green spaces in a London borough?
What’s the role?
As a Green Space Contract Officer, you will help ensure the successful delivery of the Council’s parks and open spaces contract, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement.
You will take a lead role in managing the Council’s allotment service, ensuring it is delivered in line with statutory requirements, service standards and customer expectations, including working directly with tenants, stakeholders and community groups.
This is a varied role combining contract management, allotment service management, site inspections, stakeholder engagement and service development.
You will play a key role in shaping how parks services are delivered across the borough. This is an opportunity to influence contract performance at scale and improve outcomes for residents.
What’s in it for you?
Excellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:
- Generous holiday allowance
- Local Government Pension scheme
- Flexible working and family friendly policies
- Season ticket and bicycle loans
- A range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships
- Supportive staff networks
What we’re looking for
You will be highly organised and detail-focused, with strong IT skills and confidence using digital systems in a professional environment. You will be fully computer literate, with experience of using Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel), managing emails, and working with databases or CRM systems to record, track and monitor service activity. You will be comfortable using electronic data management systems, ideally parks and allotments systems for logging, monitoring and mapping to support inspections and service management.
You will have experience monitoring services or contracts against agreed standards, producing clear and accurate reports, and following up actions. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with contractors, community groups and colleagues across the Council. Experience of working with community-based services, customer-facing operations or allotment-type services will be advantageous, particularly where there are regulatory or service standard requirements.
