Rotherham Council's Housing Property Services (HPS) is seeking a Compliance Assistant to join its Compliance Team on a temporary 9-month maternity cover contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Council in meeting its statutory landlord compliance and health and safety responsibilities. Working within a busy and supportive team, you will help maintain accurate compliance records, monitor contractor performance, coordinate inspections and ensure key compliance information is effectively managed across the Council's housing stock.

Reporting to the Compliance Support Officer, you will play an important role in helping to keep residents safe by supporting the delivery of compliance programmes, monitoring outstanding actions and ensuring compliance records remain accurate, up to date and auditable.

You will be responsible for collecting, validating and maintaining compliance data, producing performance reports and providing information to support service planning, monitoring and decision-making. Working closely with contractors, tenants and internal teams, you will coordinate compliance inspections, testing programmes and any follow-up remedial works to help ensure statutory requirements are met.

The role will involve monitoring outstanding compliance actions, progressing cases where access to properties has not been achieved and maintaining clear audit trails of all activity. You will also assist in preparing documentation to support legal proceedings where access is required to undertake statutory inspections or compliance works.

Providing administrative support to the Compliance Team, you will ensure records and certification remain accurate, complete and readily available for audit or regulatory review. You will also assist with contractor performance monitoring and help identify opportunities to improve data quality, processes and service delivery.

Please note that we will shortlist according to the job specific qualifications and the shortlisting and interview criteria shown in the job profile.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of analysing and recording statistical information including preparing data for presentation and reports

  • Knowledge and understanding of statutory compliance functions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the use of IT skills to produce reports.

  • NQF Level 3 Qualification e.g. AS and A levels, NVQ Level 3, Applied A Levels, BTEC First Certificates and Diplomas, City and Guilds Advanced Craft Part 3, or NQF Level 4 Certificates of Higher Education
