Join Us – Be Part of a Truly Inclusive Team and organisation
About the team we are recruiting to
The Community Safety Team at Coventry City Council plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. They work to address a wide range of issues, from crime prevention and anti-social behaviour to community cohesion. By collaborating with local partners, organisations, and residents, the team implements strategic initiatives that foster a sense of security and trust within the community.
We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.
What is the job role?
We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as a Community Warden. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide a reassuring uniformed patrol presence in the city, addressing concerns such as anti-social behaviour (ASB) and serious violence through targeted operations and patrols in areas of most need. Community Wardens are a valued and flexible resource, supporting organisational efforts to help communities thrive.
As a Community Warden, you will actively focus on addressing concerns around ASB and serious violence by patrolling specific geographical locations where current or emerging issues have been identified. Through positive community engagement, education, and enforcement, if necessary, you will play a critical role in improving the quality of life for residents affected by these challenges. Collaborating closely with key partners, the team works to support vulnerable residents and enhance the overall safety and well-being of the community.
This role involves shift work between the hours of 11am and 10pm including weekends. This may be subject to change in the future.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for?
You should embody a strong commitment to community well-being and possess a passion for making a tangible difference in the lives of residents. This individual will thrive in a role that requires proactive engagement and adaptability to varying challenges in a dynamic environment. You will see yourself as a vital resource for the community, not merely enforcing laws but actively contributing to its vibrancy and cohesion. An ideal candidate should be proficient in conflict management and confident in de-escalation tactics.
