At Luton Council, we’re working towards our bold Luton 2040 vision – a town built on fairness, where everyone can thrive and no one lives in poverty. As part of this ambition, we’re looking for a dedicated and passionate Community Safety Partnership Officer to help drive forward our community safety, cohesion and resilience agenda.

As our Community Safety Partnership Officer, you’ll play a key role within the Social Justice Unit, supporting the Community Safety Partnership Manager in developing and delivering Luton’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) work programme.

You’ll coordinate and deliver key projects and interventions that tackle crime, build community cohesion, and strengthen multi-agency responses to local issues. You’ll be a key point of contact for our statutory partners and the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector – supporting collaboration, co-production, and innovative solutions that make a real difference to people’s lives.

This is a leadership role that combines strategy, partnership working, and project delivery. You’ll also provide line management support for officers working with refugees and asylum seekers and contribute to the development of the Council’s Fairness Strategy and “No Place for Hate” campaign.

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

About you

You’ll bring:

  • In-depth experience of developing, managing, and evaluating projects that build community safety, cohesion and inclusion.
  • Proven success in partnership and multi-agency working, particularly with the VCFSE sector.
  • A strong understanding of community safety policies at national and local levels and how community development supports this agenda.
  • The ability to translate strategic objectives into effective, deliverable programmes.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and report-writing skills, with the confidence to engage a range of audiences including elected members, partners, and community groups.
  • A clear commitment to fairness, equity and social justice, and the ability to lead with these values in every aspect of your work.
  • Experience in community development with diverse communities, ideally in areas facing inequality.
  • The flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, and to travel across the borough as needed.

A relevant qualification and/or equivalent professional experience in community safety, social inclusion, or community development is required.
