
Community Safety Lead Officer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Community Safety Team in a varied and rewarding role as our Community Safety Lead Officer.
The Community Safety Lead Officer takes a key role in ensuring the delivery of the Community Safety Partnership while ensuring statutory duties are fully met. Leading a team of three Community Safety Officers, you will oversee the development and delivery of projects and diversionary activities that address the partnership’s key priorities in both Chelmsford and Maldon districts, working closely with officers across the Council and a wide range of external stakeholders.
A strong understanding of safeguarding will be essential, enabling the postholder to support the Council in meeting its legal responsibilities. The successful applicant will also lead on Domestic Homicide Reviews and Serious Case Reviews, ensuring that learning outcomes are embedded across the organisation and partnership.
Additional responsibilities include, assisting the Operations Manager with statutory duties relating to Resilience and Business Continuity as a Category 1 responder as well as contributing to the wider work of Public Health and Protection Services, including acting as a designated safeguarding reporting officer. There is also a requirement to lead in the Council’s anti-social behaviour case management function, with sound knowledge of powers under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, including the Community Trigger process.
We are looking for someone who is a strong leader and excellent team player, with the ability to manage and coordinate large-scale events. Applicants should be experienced in working within public sector partnerships and skilled in building positive relationships and engaging effectively with staff, partners, and members of the public. The ability to demonstrate the highest standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and customer service are also essential in this role.
