    Customer Services is one of the largest departments in Coventry City Council and are the front face of the organisation. We are usually the first port of call for customer enquiries across the council. Our fast-paced telephone teams deal with thousands of calls and emails a week, we have a dynamic Customer Service Centre with around 2500 visitors a week approaching us for a wide range of enquiries from paying their council tax to seeking help to access services and dedicated support teams who process bookings, timesheets and general administration work for the whole organisation.

    You may be based in one of several locations, we have a Customer Service Centre right in the heart of the city; Friargate – a large purpose built office by the train station along with several reception points across the city.

    What is the job role?

    Community Resilience Lead Officer, Full-Time, Fixed Term for 18 months.

    Are you passionate about community empowerment, strategic collaboration, and making a lasting impact? We are seeking a proactive and inspiring Community Resilience Lead Officer to help deliver our city-wide vision for stronger, more connected communities. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering initiatives that support community organisations, champion volunteering, and unlock vital funding opportunities.

    Your Mission:

    As a key member of the Community Resilience Team, you’ll lead on the operational delivery of our community resilience strategy, focusing on three core pillars:

    •      Supporting community organisations that uplift and empower Coventry’s residents
    •     Identifying and securing external funding to fuel innovation and sustainability
    •     Championing volunteers as essential partners in service delivery and community support

    Your Responsibilities Will Include:

    •     Leading and coordinating funding bids and partnership collaborations
    •     Advising Council officers, elected members, and programme boards on volunteering and community engagement
    •     Supporting service and asset transfers to community ownership with integrity and strategic oversight
    •     Contributing to the development of new policies and standards that shape the future of community resilience
    •     Delivering targeted development support to voluntary sector groups across the city
    •     Measuring and reporting impact to inform future practice and policy
    •     Managing day-to-day operations of the Community Resilience Team, including matrix management and deputising for the Team Manager when required
