The Communities, Leisure and Health team at Brentwood Borough and Rochford District Councils works collaboratively to support the wellbeing, resilience and quality of life of residents. The team works closely with partners across the voluntary, health and public sectors to reduce inequalities and strengthen social connection, helping residents to live healthier, more active and connected lives across both districts.

The Councils are looking for an enthusiastic, independent and motivated Community Resettlement Officer to sit within the Communities, Leisure and Health team to support newly arrived refugees, migrants and individuals requiring assistance to settle into the community. The post will primarily focus on individuals residing in Brentwood and Rochford under the Homes for Ukraine Programme and will also support refugees from other countries as required.

You will support refugees by advocating for their needs and facilitating access to housing, welfare, employment and community services to enable successful integration. You will organise events and activities with refugee communities and partner community organisations to support engagement and participation.

You will also support the Homes for Ukraine arrival process, coordinating health and safety checks with host properties, working with Essex authorities to ensure arrival processes are meeting required standards, and feeding required information into government reporting systems.

The successful candidate will speak fluent Ukrainian with good English, have previous experience of working with refugees and a strong understanding of the impact of displacement, conflict and migration on individuals and families. They will have good knowledge of housing pathways, welfare benefits and available integration support.

This post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a full, valid driving licence, with access to your own car.
