About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Wokingham Borough Council as a Community Regeneration Specialist, playing a key role in delivering the Gorse Ride Development Project.
Working within the Housing Partnerships and Engagement team, you will act as the primary link between residents, contractors, and council teams, ensuring that residents are supported throughout every stage of regeneration – from planning through to decant and redevelopment.
This is a varied, people-focused role where you will combine community engagement, resident liaison and project coordination to help deliver long-term, positive outcomes for local communities.
About the Team
The Housing Partnerships and Engagement service leads on resident engagement, regeneration and partnership working across housing. The team works closely with residents, internal services and external partners to ensure communities are supported, informed and actively involved in shaping their neighbourhoods.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Act as the lead resident liaison officer for the Gorse Ride regeneration project
- Support residents through decant and rehousing processes, ensuring a high level of care and communication
- Coordinate and support Steering Group and Project Board meetings, including agendas, minutes and actions
- Deliver resident engagement activities, including meetings, consultations, newsletters and one-to-one support
- Work collaboratively with contractors, development teams and internal services to ensure project delivery stays on track
- Maintain key project documentation such as risk registers, progress reports and communications
- Identify and support vulnerable residents, ensuring appropriate referrals and safeguarding measures
- Monitor resident feedback and drive continuous improvement in engagement and service delivery
- Contribute to wider community regeneration, social value and housing strategy work
Additional Information
- Ability to travel across the Borough is essential
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support resident engagement activities
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual who is passionate about community engagement and improving residents’ lives.
Essential:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with residents and stakeholders
- Experience of working in a customer-focused or community-based role
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work across project coordination and engagement activities
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail (e.g. meetings, reporting, documentation)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding
- Good IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, data handling, reporting)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable:
- Experience in housing, regeneration, or community development
- Understanding of decant processes or resident relocation
- Knowledge of project management approaches
- Experience working with multiple agencies or contractors

Salary range
- £46,142 - £51,357 per year
