About the role
You’ll lead the council’s communications, PR, events and customer service functions. You’ll guide strategic communications, manage public engagement, and ensure our customer experience aligns with our corporate vision.
You'll also:
- Be the council’s lead advisor on media, PR and customer contact strategies.
- Shape and deliver engaging communications and high-quality customer service.
- Manage a diverse team covering events, marketing, contact centres and corporate communications.
- Act as a council spokesperson and ambassador, promoting transparency and trust.
- Lead the development of key strategies, policies and reports for senior leadership and elected members.
- Be the responsible officer for Ombudsman and compliant handling
What we’re looking for
- Proven leadership experience in communications and/or customer service.
- A strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
- Deep knowledge of local government operations and relevant legislation.
- Ability to manage complex workloads and lead through change.
- A degree (Level 6) in Communications, Customer Service or a related field.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and excellent public service.
Leadership or management qualifications (Level 5+) and experience in political or public sector environments are desirable.
