About the role

We are looking for a motivated and knowledgeable Property Estate Surveyor to join our Asset Management team. You will play a key role in managing and enhancing the Council's commercial investment portfolio, ensuring income generation, protecting asset value and supporting the effective use of our property assets.

Working closely with the Principal Surveyor and wider Asset Management team, you will deliver a varied caseload of professional estate management work, providing expert landlord and tenant advice while building strong relationships with tenants, colleagues and external partners.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified surveyor, or someone working towards professional qualification, to further develop their career within a forward-thinking organisation committed to delivering value for its communities.

What will you be doing?

As As Commercial Property Estate Surveyor you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a varied portfolio of commercial property and estate management matters.
  • Undertaking rent reviews, lease renewals and licence negotiations using appropriate valuation methodologies.
  • Managing lease assignments, easements, wayleaves and other landlord and tenant transactions through to completion.
  • Providing technical advice and guidance on commercial leasehold matters and estate management best practice.
  • Supporting asset valuation programmes through the maintenance and provision of property information and site inspections.
  • Liaising with tenants, agents, solicitors, valuers and other professional advisers to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Assisting with the preparation of sites for marketing and coordinating external valuation and agency instructions.
  • Contributing to reports, briefing notes and recommendations to support decision-making across the Council.
  • Supporting trainee surveyors and sharing professional knowledge across the team.
  • Working collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders to deliver corporate and property objectives.
  • Supporting initiatives that contribute towards the Council's Carbon Neutral 2030 ambitions.
