Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.

We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the city.

We’re looking for a commercially focused lead to provide oversight, challenge and assurance across our Housing Asset Management programmes. This is a high-impact role shaping how significant HRA investment is governed, controlled and delivered.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, you’ll act as the Council’s second-line commercial assurance function, strengthening governance, driving value for money and ensuring robust financial and procurement controls.

    You will:

    • Provide independent challenge on procurement, cost and business cases
    • Assure compliance with financial regulations and contract rules
    • Oversee commercial risk, cost control and performance reporting
    • Work across Repairs, Compliance and Capital programmes
    • Support audit, scrutiny and continuous improvement
    • Managing and developing a Commercial Assurance Officer

    What we’re looking for

    • Strong commercial or financial management experience within housing or the public sector
    • Strong knowledge of procurement, contracts and financial controls
    • Proven ability to assess risk, costs and value for money
    • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and balance risk, cost and delivery to support strategic outcomes

This is an opportunity to step into a role with genuine impact shaping investment decisions, influencing senior stakeholders, and improving how we deliver services at scale.

This role requires a minimum of 3 days per week office-based presence to support collaboration, oversight and engagement.
