    The Role:

    We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Council Tax Billing and Collection Officers to join our Revenues Service and be part of our exciting improvement journey. This is a vital role in ensuring the accurate billing and collection of Council Tax, supporting the financial sustainability of the council and delivering excellent service to our residents.

    About You

    • Has a positive attitude and genuinely wants to help people
    • Loves chatting with people and can explain things clearly (even the tricky stuff!)
    • Has a sharp eye for detail and spots mistakes a mile off
    • Knows a thing or two about Council Tax—or is keen to learn
    • Enjoys solving problems and finding smart solutions
    • Is comfortable using systems and tech (Northgate experience is a bonus!)
    • Works well in a team but can also fly solo when needed
    • Can juggle tasks and stay cool under pressure
    • Brings ideas to the table and isn’t afraid to speak up
    • Wants to grow, develop, and make a real impact in the community

    Key Responsibilities

    • Administer and maintain Council Tax accounts, including billing, discounts, exemptions, and recovery processes
    • Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email, and written correspondence with professionalism and empathy
    • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures relating to local taxation
    • Liaise with internal departments and external agencies to resolve account issues and support enforcement activity
    • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and digital transformation projects
    • Maintain accurate records and support audit and performance reporting
