Located in Cheshire, Halton boasts excellent transport links between Liverpool and Manchester, as well as close proximity to both Liverpool John Lennon and Manchester Airports.

Our progressive community strategy aims to bring about meaningful, long-term improvements that enhance lives. It’s an exciting time to join us as we develop new policies and transform the way people access services.

We are immensely proud that when asked what’s great about working for Halton, the most popular response from our workforce has been ‘our colleagues’.

Our Team:

The Environment and Regeneration Directorate is responsible for the borough’s Planning, Highways, Transportation, Properties, Regeneration and Community and Greenspace. As a Climate Change Apprentice, you will be responsible for facilitating the Council’s response to the Climate Change agenda. You will have key areas of focus, with support being provided by project leads and your line manager. You will follow an approved programme of study with Manchester Metropolitan University, gaining a Level 4 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner qualification alongside your work.

Your Contributions:

As a Climate Change Apprentice, you will support a range of projects, particularly the Council’s carbon reduction and climate change activities. This will include organising meetings, briefings and/or training sessions, diary management, and meeting support such as taking minutes and actions. You will also help to prioritise and schedule workloads, track and manage deadlines, and chase up and report progress of actions agreed in projects and programmes. You will liaise with colleagues and secure funding to support the Council’s climate change ambitions by identifying, preparing and submitting external funding bids as and when opportunities arise. You will monitor trends and changes and ensure your knowledge is maintained for new legislation, good practice and emerging technologies.

Our Offer:

Aside from working with a great team, our employees have access to a fantastic range of benefits, including:
