We are recruiting a Civil Enforcement Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Office based

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Traffic Management Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £27,711 - £30,060 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

We are currently seeking to recruit 1 Full Time Civil Enforcement Officer to provide proactive and reactive parking and environmental enforcement activities that will enhance the local environment and improve the flow of traffic and public amenity across Caerphilly County Borough.

Successful candidates will be required to work 5 days a week (37 hours) out of 7 days on a Monday to Sunday rota between the hours of 7:00am to 10:00pm including Bank holidays and weekends. The role involves lone-working with some unsociable working hours and you must wear the uniform provided when on duty.

Your duties and main functions will include:

  • Patrolling the Council’s off-street Car Parks and on-street parking in accordance with the Council’s Car Park Regulations and Parking Enforcement Policy.
  • Identifying instances of unlawful parking and issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) in accordance with the Parking Enforcement Policy and associated operating practices.
  • Participating in and proactively developing partnership working with Gwent Police local neighbourhood policing teams to help combat parking issues throughout the county borough.
  • Identifying instances of littering or dog fouling and issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) in accordance with the Council’s operating practices.
  • Ensuring the upkeep of appropriate records in accordance with legislation and operating procedures.
  • Liaising with other Council services as appropriate to ensure the effectively delivery of the enforcement operation.
  • Checking and maintaining car park machines for ticket stock levels and basic faults.
  • Responsibility for the safe driving and operation of a Council vehicle.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework
  • Tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult situations involving members of the public
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours
