Chelmsford City Council is looking for a proactive and dedicated individual to join our Facilities Management Team as a Civic Porter. In this important role, you’ll help keep the Civic Centre running smoothly by carrying out a range of tasks. These include receiving and sorting post, helping with minor maintenance, setting up furniture in rooms, keeping outdoor areas clean, and helping ensure the building and our users stays safe and secure.
Working 15 hours per week typically Tuesday and Wednesday within a 3-week shift rota. Morning shifts are usually 7am to 3pm and afternoon shifts are usually Midday to 8pm.
We’re looking for someone who has some experience with basic maintenance and is comfortable using a computer for simple tasks. You’ll need to be well-organised and follow safe working practices.
The successful applicant will be based mostly at the Civic Centre Offices in Chelmsford, but may be required to travel to sites within the district.
Please be aware that porters may be required to be ‘on call’ outside of the normal hours of service, on a rota basis to cover overnight and weekend call outs. The post holder should be able to attend the Civic Centre site within 30 minutes.
