We are recruiting a Childcare Deputy Leader at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 20
Contract Type: Part Time, Term Time Only (39 weeks), Fixed Term until 31st March 2026 - with potential for extension depending on continued funding
Location: Various Locations in the Borough

Team: Flying Start Childcare, Early Years Service

Are you ready to take the next step in your childcare career? We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Childcare Deputy Leader to join our vibrant Flying Start Childcare team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families across our community.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting the delivery of high-quality childcare in line with Flying Start guidance, CIW standards, and childcare regulations.

Acting as the Deputy Safeguarding Designate, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children.

Leading the setting in the absence of the Childcare Leader, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Championing inclusive practices and supporting children with emerging or additional needs and taking the role of Inclusion Lead.

Building strong relationships with parents/carers and working collaboratively with multi-agency partners.

Assisting with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to ensure the continued success of our Flying Start provision.

Where You’ll Work:

You’ll be primarily based in one of our Flying Start settings, but flexibility is key – you may be asked to support other settings across the Caerphilly Borough when needed.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A CACHE Level 3 Diploma Early Years and Childcare qualification or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • At least 2 years post-qualification experience of working with children aged under 4 years, in a childcare provision.
  • A passion for early years and a commitment to inclusive, high-quality care.
