We are recruiting a Childcare Assistant at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 31
Contract Type: Part Time, Fixed Term until 31st March 2026, Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Location: Various Locations within the Borough

We pay an attractive salary of £18,851 - £19,150 (Grade 4) / £19,455 - £20,737 (Grade 5) and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Location: Flying Start Childcare, Caerphilly Borough

Contract: Fixed Term (31 hours/week) until 31st March 2026 – with potential for extension depending on continued funding

Are you ready to take the next step in your childcare career? We’re looking for 3 dedicated and enthusiastic Childcare Assistants to join our vibrant Flying Start Childcare team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families across our community.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting the delivery of high-quality childcare in line with Flying Start guidance, CIW standards, and childcare regulations.

Supporting the delivery of cover as required across the borough throughout our Flying Start programme.

Championing inclusive practices and supporting children with emerging or additional needs. In particular we are looking for two Childcare Assistants who are interested in supporting specialist placements for children who need a higher level of support, and one Cover Assistant to support delivery borough wide.

Building strong relationships with parents/carers and working collaboratively with multi-agency partners.

Assisting with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to ensure the continued success of our Flying Start provision.

Where You’ll Work:

You’ll be primarily based in one of our Flying Start settings, but flexibility is key and you will be asked to support other settings across the Caerphilly Borough including moving between morning and afternoon sessions to ensure ratio are met.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Early Years and Childcare qualification or similar relevant qualification.
  • Willingness to undertake further qualifications / continuing professional development training.
  • A passion for early years and a commitment to inclusive, high-quality care.
  • Full UK Category B driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to work at various settings across the borough.
