
Cemeteries Team Leader
The Role
Lancaster City Council are looking for an adaptable and self-motivated Cemeteries Team Leader to join the Public Realms Cemeteries department within the Environment and Place Directorate to contribute in delivery of high-quality bereavement service across the district.
The successful candidate will report to the Cemeteries Operations Manager in Public Realm and will assist in delivering an efficient and effective burial service in all the Council’s cemeteries with responsibilities to lead a team in undertaking that all aspects of gravedigging duties / memorial safety and grounds maintenance duties specification and work objectives are met.
You will have a good knowledge of gravedigging practices and procedures to undertake all gravedigging duties, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should have good numeracy and literacy skills, proven ICT skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. You must be able to work effectively as part of a close team and cope well working with a caring and sensitive manner.
The work is physically demanding, involving bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying and it is essential that you are able to lift weights of up to 25kg.
You will be able to demonstrate flexibility and commitment to delivering high quality customer service.
A full current UK driving licence with legal dispensation to pull trailers up to 3500kg is essential. You will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data.
The hours for this post are 37 hours per week. Your normal working week will be on a shift rota basis, working 5 days out of 7, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, in line with business needs.

Salary range
- £31,022 - £36,363 per year
