The Role

Want to play a key role in keeping North Somerset safe?

We’re looking for motivated individuals to join our busy CCTV Control Room team. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, we monitor more than 200 public space cameras, respond to emergency calls, manage alarm systems, and work closely with partner agencies to protect our communities.

As part of the Safer Communities Team, you’ll make a real difference in delivering the council’s commitment to community safety.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Flexible and able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Confident with IT systems
  • An excellent communicator with strong customer service skills

What you’ll need:

  • Ability to obtain full NPPV Level 2 police vetting
  • Ability to obtain an SIA CCTV Licence (training will be provided)
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent including English language

This is a great opportunity to be at the heart of keeping North Somerset safe.

This position is currently based at Weston Town Council Offices, Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare

Work Style

At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

This role falls into the category of Fixed Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

  • 5 days in the office
  • Spends most or all of their time in the office, due to nature of the work but can be for reasons such as unsuitable home working conditions or a desire for separation of home and work life.
  • The office remains a shared space with cultural encouragement for clear desk policies.
