Caretaker Supervisor
-
Location: Orchard House
Permanent – Full Time
Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the city.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Caretaker Supervisor to support the delivery of high-quality caretaking and cleaning services across our housing estates.
Reporting to the Environmental Services Area Lead, you will be responsible for supervising a team of Caretakers and Driver Caretakers, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, safely and to a high standard. Acting as a working supervisor, you will provide day-to-day leadership, monitor performance, allocate workloads and support staff in delivering excellent services to residents.
You will be responsible for maintaining estate standards, undertaking inspections, responding to resident enquiries and complaints, and working closely with internal teams and contractors to resolve issues quickly and effectively. You will support the delivery of Health and Safety, Fire Safety and environmental standards within communal areas, helping to ensure residents live in clean, safe and well-maintained environments.
The successful candidate will have to have experience of supervising estate, environmental or caretaking services, together with strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills. You will be able to motivate staff, manage competing priorities and maintain a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement.
A valid UK driving licence is essential for this role, as the post requires driving Council vehicles to transport staff, equipment and materials between housing sites across the borough.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues, residents and partner organisations, maintaining a proactive and solutions-focused approach. Flexibility to respond to emergencies, urgent operational issues and occasional out-of-hours requirements will be essential.
