    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Skills & Employability team as a Careers Consultant within the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Careers Hub. This role, as part of a small team of Careers Consultants, is central to supporting local schools and colleges to deliver high-quality careers education, ensuring young people transition successfully into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

    You will work closely with senior leaders in schools, colleges, and local businesses, driving systemic change in careers education and supporting the achievement of key outcomes for Staffordshire’s young people, with a priority focus on the new Modern Work Experience guarantee.

    • 1x Staffordshire Wide Role (37hrs per week) this post is fixed term until 31st August 2026 with potential for extension

    Main Responsibilities

    As a Careers Consultant, you will:

    • Consult with school and college leaders, providing expert advice on careers education policy and the implementation of strategic plans aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks and the Modern Work Experience guarantee.
    • Manage a caseload of schools, colleges, employers, analysing and tracking their progress to ensure maximum impact for young people.
    • Manage and support the implementation of high quality, modern work experience (WEX) models within the school system including growing a countywide business network and managing the Staffordshire wide Work Experience Careers Observatory.
    The Ideal Candidate

    We are looking for someone who:

    • Has extensive experience in careers education, ideally with a detailed understanding of careers policy, statutory guidance including Modern WEX and the barriers faced by schools and colleges to embed careers education into the system.
    • Is confident consulting with senior leaders and managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including employers.
    • Can analyse and present performance data and is comfortable using digital and IT systems.
    • Is proactive, adaptable, and able to manage a busy workload independently whilst having the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
