About the team

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join our team. This role will be within the Finance and Budgets function, working as a Support Officer in the Finance & Budget Team (Inclusion & Skills). This is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that supports frontline SEN services for children, young people, families, and schools.
This dynamic team processes payment transactions and resolves all payment queries relating to these transactions.

About the role

You will make and record payments for education services received across Hertfordshire. This will involve maintaining detailed financial records.

You will process invoices and Direct Payments, or query where appropriate, in a timely manner for a range of suppliers using SAP

You will liaise and work closely with colleagues across Childrens Services to assist in the delivery of an efficient and effective financial service

You will respond in a business-like and customer focussed manner to queries from the public, providers, and other stakeholders in relation to payments and charges

You will support the accurate and timely processing and recording of financial data and maintenance of financial records. This is to assist in the production of forecast figures within the Finance Business Partner for SEN (CS) team.

There are a range of administrative tasks that this role could do – and you will be given any training needed

About you

Essential:

  • Proven experience in an administrative or support role
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a range of audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
  • Experience in working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan own work over short timescales for routine or familiar tasks and processes and use your initiative to work independently.
  • GCSE or Vocational equivalent, strong numeracy, and literacy skills
  • Enthusiasm and pride in your work are qualities we welcome. 

Desirable:

  • Experience of creating purchase orders in SAP
  • Experience in accounts payable
  • AAT or equivalent qualification

As part of the interview assessment, candidates will be required to complete a Microsoft Excel proficiency test.
