The Performance & Insight Team's role is to question, influence and provide understanding to make life better in Coventry.

The Performance & Insight Team collects, analyses, interprets and publishes a wide range of insights about the city, and engages with residents, communities and partners to champion a culture of evidence-based decision-making across Coventry.

Activities undertaken by the Insight team include:

  • Business intelligence
  • Customer and location intelligence
  • Engagement and consultation support
  • Evaluative research
  • Performance management
  • Partnership working
  • Providing advice and guidance on equalities and diversity issues and ensuring the Council discharges its Public Sector Equality Duty

  • Children's services
  • Compliments, comments and complaints
  • Customer services
  • Geographical information systems

What is the job role?

We are looking for a Business Intelligence and Insights Analyst to join the Performance and Insights Team and support Coventry City Council’s journey to become a data‑led organisation. Using evidence and insight, you will help drive decisions and deliver services to our residents in a city proud of its diversity and history of peace and reconciliation.

All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.

Who are we looking for?


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of research, data analysis, and ICT skills, including the ability to extract, interpret, and present complex data clearly
  • Ability to use BI tools such as Power BI and SQL
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals
  • Experience in a similar analytical or performance reporting role (local authority experience is preferable)
  • A relevant degree or equivalent vocational experience in a data, research, or analytical field

Salary range

  • £34,811 - £41,177 per year
