Where you live really matters. Maintaining homes people are proud of really matters. As the biggest landlord in the area, we are investing £150 million in people’s homes over the next five years with a target of being net zero by 2030. Is this a project you’d like to be part of? If so, we’d like to hear from you.
What you will do!
You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of our planned and cyclical investment programmes to the housing and commercial stock in line with agreed standards. This will include working alongside our contractors and consultants and holding them to account on their performance. You will also be required to provide technical advice, develop scopes of work and specifications on various projects and liaising with customers on their requirements.
What will you need!
We are keen to hear from individuals with a strong hands-on background in construction, particularly those who have worked as builders, tradespeople, or site supervisors and are looking to transition into a professional surveying role.
You will bring practical, real-world experience of building construction, repairs, and maintenance, with the ability to confidently diagnose faults and identify effective, cost-efficient solutions based on your on-site knowledge.
The ideal candidate will:
- Either have a solid background in the building trade (e.g. general builder, carpenter, bricklayer, or similar), with a clear understanding of how buildings are put together and maintained or have a suitable qualification and/or experience in building studies.
- Be confident in identifying defects, diagnosing issues, and specifying remedial works based on practical experience
- Have experience of managing works on site, coordinating trades, or overseeing projects to ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Demonstrate a good working knowledge of health & safety practices, including safe systems of work on construction sites
- Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through to completion
- Have strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers, colleagues, and contractors
- Show an interest in developing professionally within surveying, including a willingness to undertake relevant training or qualifications.
We value practical experience just as highly as formal qualifications. If you have built your career on-site and are ready to apply that knowledge in a new way, this role offers an excellent opportunity to step into building surveying and develop a long-term professional career.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
