    Location: Orchard Housing Office

Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.

We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the city.

We are seeking a Building Safety Assurance Manager to strengthen our building safety framework and provide independent oversight across our housing portfolio.

This is a senior, non-operational role focused on assurance, compliance and risk. You will act as a second line of defence, challenging delivery, testing controls, and ensuring we meet our obligations under the Building Safety Act and fire safety legislation. You will play a key role in protecting residents, supporting regulatory engagement, and ensuring our approach stands up to scrutiny.

    What you’ll be doing

    • Providing independent assurance on building and fire safety compliance
    • Challenging delivery plans, risk assessments and remediation programmes
    • Leading audits, inspections and assurance reviews
    • Escalating risks and advising senior leaders on compliance and control effectiveness
    • Supporting regulatory reporting and audit readiness
    • Driving continuous improvement through insight, learning and performance analysis

    What we’re looking for

    • Strong experience in building or fire safety within housing or a regulated environment
    • Solid understanding of the Building Safety Act and compliance frameworks
    • Experience of audits, inspections or assurance reviews
    • Ability to influence, challenge and provide clear, evidence-based advice
    • Confident managing risk and working with senior stakeholders

This is a high-impact role with real influence, shaping how building safety is governed, assured and improved across the organisation.

This role requires a minimum of 3 days per week office-based presence to support collaboration, oversight and engagement.
