Erewash Borough Council is on the lookout for a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Building Control Officer to play a key role in delivering expert guidance across a broad range of domestic, commercial, and mixed-use developments.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assessing building regulation applications and carrying out site inspections
  • Contributing to safe, sustainable, and compliant developments across Erewash, Broxtowe, Mansfield, and Ashfield
  • Supporting demolition licensing and the dangerous structures response service
  • Mentoring Assistant Building Control Officers and supporting professional development when required
  • Participating in out-of-hours emergency standby on a rota basis

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree in Building Surveying or HNC/HND in construction and experience as a qualified Building Surveyor
  • Corporate membership or working towards corporate membership of CABE, CIOB, or RICS
  • Willingness (or ability) to achieve LABC Level 6 Competency through assessment
  • Understanding of the Building Act 1984 and the Building Regulations
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to maintaining high service standards

Your usual workplace will be the Town Hall in Long Eaton, but you will travel to other sites within our partner authorities when required.
