About the role

Best Start in Life (BSIL) Early Years Practitioner

Location: North Northamptonshire (East Northants Family Hub - Oundle)

30 Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 3:30pm

Are you passionate about early childhood development and ready to make a meaningful impact for local families? We’re building something exciting — and we want you to be part of it.

North Northamptonshire is expanding its Family Hubs network in line with the national Best Start for Life programme, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, child-centred BSIL Early Years Practitioner to join the team.

Travel between Oundle and Rushden Family Hubs will be required.

Previous applicants need not apply.

What will you be doing?

  • Plan and deliver play-based learning sessions in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Support parents to understand and nurture their child’s development through practical, everyday strategies
  • Deliver evidence-based parenting programmes, including for families with SEND
  • Promote school readiness by building confidence in the home learning environment
  • Work closely with colleagues across health, early years, and social care as an Family Help Champion
  • Contribute to assessments and help shape intervention plans that really make a difference

About you

We’re seeking someone who’s warm, creative, and confident in working with families from all backgrounds. You’ll understand the challenges some families face and know how to offer respectful, practical support that empowers and encourages.

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or similar

• Experience working directly with young children and their families

• Strong knowledge of child development, parenting support, and early intervention approaches

• The ability to work flexibly and travel across North Northamptonshire as required

• Confidence in responding to safeguarding concerns appropriately and in line with procedures

If you’re also trained in Signalong, First Aid, or Food Hygiene, that’s a bonus — but not essential.

Why Join Us?

You’ll be joining a passionate, ambitious team committed to improving life outcomes for children from birth upwards. We value creativity, teamwork, and a “can-do” attitude — and we’ll support you with regular supervision, training, and opportunities to shape the future of our local Family Hubs.

Some evening and weekend work may be required, but we offer flexibility, variety, and the opportunity to be part of something that matters.

Ready to help build brighter beginnings? Apply now and be part of our Best Start for Life mission in North Northamptonshire.
