Southwark Council is seeking an Audio Visual (AV) Manager to take centre stage in leading our AV services across iconic sites including Tooley Street, Queens Road, and Bournemouth Road.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide strategic leadership and hands-on oversight for all AV services across Southwark’s key sites.
  • Deliver flawless AV experiences for meetings, events, and high-profile engagements.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the AV Services Team, setting performance standards and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Manage AV assets, including testing, servicing, software upgrades, and inventories.
  • Take ownership of relationships with external AV suppliers, ensuring performance against KPIs.
  • Champion a customer-first approach, liaising with clients and resolving issues with professionalism.
  • Oversee health & safety compliance, risk assessments, and preventative measures.
  • Coordinate AV technician rotas and provide leadership during live events.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of modern Audio-Visual systems, trends, and event technology.
  • Substantial hands-on AV and event production experience – ideally in-house or with an AV supplier.
  • Proven track record in managing sound, lighting, and IT for large-scale events.
  • Experience of budget setting, control, and monitoring.
  • Excellent leadership and people-management skills that inspire confidence and respect.
  • Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, from AV technicians to senior executives.
  • Sharp problem-solving ability with an eye for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office proficiency and the ability to get the best from digital tools.
  • Enjoy a balanced approach with flexible home working.
