Attendance Officer - Full-Time Position
Band D SCP 6 - 36 Hours (Full Time) 39 weeks per year
Fixed Term in the first instance to 31/08/2026 (possibility of permanent position dependent on School Budget)
Grove Street Primary School is seeking a proactive and motivated Attendance Officer to join our dedicated pastoral team. This is a key role in supporting children within a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring they have the very best opportunity to thrive in their learning.
About the Role
As Attendance Officer, you will:
Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to monitor and improve pupil attendance
Play an important part in helping every child achieve their full potential
Contribute to our warm, caring school community
Support the smooth day-to-day operation of our school office
Contribute to wider school priorities by carrying out reasonable duties consistent with the role
You’ll be responsible for daily register monitoring, First Day response calls and home visits, preparing and analysing attendance data, supporting vulnerable pupils, handling leave of absence requests, and working with the pastoral team to prepare reports.
You’ll also help Senior Leaders tackle attendance issues and put supportive measures in
place.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who is:
Experienced in attendance strategies within primary schools
Skilled at supporting children with barriers to learning
Hardworking, flexible, and able to manage time effectively
Confident with IT systems (training provided) and strong in literacy and numeracy
Experienced using a schools MIS system; Arbor experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
Warm, approachable, and able to build strong relationships with children, families, and staff
A team player who connects well with the wider school community
Proactive, positive, and calm under pressure
Committed to safeguarding and ongoing professional development
Enthusiastic about making a real difference in the lives of families and children
