We are seeking an Assistant Team Manager to join our Children's Support and Protection Service Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in leading and supporting a team of Social Workers and family support professionals, helping to ensure that children and young people across the Isle of Wight receive high-quality safeguarding interventions at the right time.

Working alongside the Team Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and professional guidance to staff, promoting excellent practice and ensuring statutory responsibilities are fulfilled in relation to Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children.

The role offers a rewarding mix of operational leadership, quality assurance, practice development and direct involvement in complex casework. You will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies including Health, Education, Police and CAMHS to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker who is ready to develop their management skills while making a meaningful difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

What you will bring

• A recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
• Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.
• Experience of safeguarding, child protection, children in need and looked after children services.
• Experience of supervising, mentoring or supporting the development of Social Workers, including Newly Qualified Social Workers.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and practice guidance relating to children and families.
• The ability to make sound and timely threshold decisions and manage complex casework.
• Experience of multi-agency working and building effective professional relationships.
• Excellent communication, analytical and decision-making skills.
• A commitment to reflective practice, continuous improvement and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
