We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team, supporting the delivery of large and complex design and build projects. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors to provide a full range of pre- and post-construction surveying services. You will assist in managing project costs, budgets, and procurement processes while ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and Council policies. This role will require attending site and evening meetings as needed and being confident in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of project costs and budgets.
- Support competitive tendering procedures and procurement activities.
- Contribute to effective programme and project management to meet deadlines.
- Commission and liaise with consultants, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Produce, analyse, and present financial information clearly and concisely.
- Support negotiation and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Uphold equality, fairness, and inclusivity in all aspects of work.

About you
We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused individual with:
- Experience in quantity surveying practice and procedures within building projects.
- Strong cost and budget management skills.
- Knowledge of competitive tendering and programme management.
- The ability to manage priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and negotiate effectively.
- Understanding of statutory regulations, legal, and technical matters relating to construction.
- A BSc in Quantity Surveying (or a related construction degree) or working towards qualification.
- Willingness to attend evening/site meetings and access all parts of buildings, including roofs.
