    The role:

    • Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Mortuary Technician to join our Bereavement Service
    • The successful candidate will support the daily operations of the City Mortuary, providing essential technical assistance to pathologists and liaising with the coroner, police and funeral directors
    • The main duties of this role include preparing deceased persons for post-mortem examinations, including handling bodies, recording details, and ensuring proper identification and storage. You will assist with autopsy procedures such as organ removal, specimen collection and body reconstruction, adhering to health and safety protocols. The position also involves ensuring the mortuary environment is clean and safe, and providing bereavement care for relatives
    • Candidates should hold a certificate or diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology and have experience of working within a mortuary facility in accordance with the Human Tissue Authority Licence. Effective communication, a good understanding of health and safety practices, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential
