Our Team:

The HRBP Team are hybrid and work across the Council, with managers, trade unions and employees to build and maintain strong working relationships. We work across a range of work streams including employee relations, strategic decision making, transformational change and organisational design & development. This can range from attendance management support, to disciplinary and grievance processes, to ensure that people practices are handled in a fair and consistent manner.

The team are embedded within directorates attending senior management team meetings, though have a main base at Halton DCBL Stadium.

The expectation is to self- organise your working diary with your case load management which requires two days on site as a minimum and flexibility required between council locations and a small amount of home working.

Due to an internal promotion we now have a temporary vacancy until 31/03/2028

Hours: 37 per week – working Monday – Thursday 9am – 5.30pm and Friday 9am – 4.40pm

Your Contributions:

Are you an experienced Assistant Human Resources Business Partner looking to utilise your experience and develop your expertise, if so we would love to hear from you.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a busy and professional HR department , supporting the delivery of high-quality employee relations services across the organisation. With experience in absence management, you will play a key role in supporting managers and ensuring consistent and fair application of HR policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting managers at a range of employee relations hearings, including attendance management, disciplinary, grievance, and restructuring processes Undertaking job evaluation and grading activities in line with organisational frameworks Working collaboratively with the HR Business Partner to manage a varied and demanding caseload
  • Providing clear, professional, and timely HR advice to managers across the Council Responding to employee relations queries via a shared team mailbox in an efficient and customer-focused manner
  • As this role involves regular travel across the borough and sometimes further afield, a driving license and access to a vehicle are essential requirements. Where appropriate, reasonable adjustments will be made in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act
