Knowsley Educational Psychology Service has an exciting opening to recruit an enthusiastic new colleague who has a BPS accredited degree in Psychology.

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Educational Psychologist on a fixed term contract, in line with AEP guidance and are hoping to appoint as soon as possible! You are invited to become part of our passionate and creative team, committed to applying psychology to promote inclusion, emotional well-being and effective learning in children and young people across the Borough of Knowsley.

You will be committed to supporting children, young people, and their families and passionate about creating positive change through the application of psychology. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who wants to gain the necessary experience to train further and become a qualified Educational Psychologist.

This exciting opportunity to work as an Assistant Educational Psychologist will allow for partnership working within the wider Children’s Service, including the Early Years’ Service, Youth Justice Service, Virtual School, and SEND Service. As an Assistant Psychologist you will be based within the Educational Psychology Service, enabling the successful candidate to collaborate closely with our team of experienced EPs to gain an understanding of the role. You will be supported in your everyday work by a dedicated member of our team, who will also support your application to the doctoral training program.

You will gain experience of applying psychology in a range of settings and of various aspects of the role such as consultation, assessment, therapeutic intervention, research and training.

We are a friendly supportive team. Supervision (formal and informal) and CPD are an essential part of our ethos. Home working, remote IT and mobile and business support are available. An enhanced DBS will be required for this role. Ability to travel around Knowsley and surrounding areas is also essential. Whilst we are a hybrid working council, it should be stressed that this post will involve significant amounts of school-based and collaborative office-based work.
