About the role:

We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Educational Psychologists (AEPs) to join the Educational Psychology Service in Waltham Forest.

As an AEP, you will work alongside Senior Educational Psychologists (SEPs), Educational Psychologists (EPs) and Trainee EPs (TEPs) in their work with schools, parents / carers and multi-agency professionals. Successful candidates will play a key role in supporting the delivery of Experts at Hand to support early intervention and preventative approaches that enhance children's development, learning and emotional well-being.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who are aspiring Educational Psychologists. A comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided, offering excellent professional development opportunities and strong preparation for applying to Educational Psychology Doctoral Training programmes.

The role will also include administrative responsibilities, data collection and analysis, resource development, and support for service projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist the Educational Psychology Service in the delivery of core services and early intervention work in schools, early years, colleges and other settings under the direct supervision of HCPC registered Educational Psychologists, and line managed by a Senior Educational Psychologist.
  • Support school staff and families to meet the needs of children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, through observation, intervention and training.
  • Support with the development, delivery and evaluation of programmes for schools, parents and children and young people, including frequent contact with schools, professionals and families.
  • Support with quality assurance and service development of the Educational Psychology Service, including design, collection and analysis of outcome measures.
  • Research and review the evidence-base relating to practice for supporting children and young people with SEND.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:
    You will need a good psychology degree (2:1 or above) and Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society prior to application. It is an essential requirement to have previous relevant experience of applying psychology to work with children and young people in educational or community settings.
